A portrait with no reference to self

This is a picture of my puppy which I have had since I was born. My mom's friend gave it to me and I sleep with it every night. My sneakers are also a symbol of how I love to run and exercise. I thought that this picture resembles me very well.

Read Between the Lines

In this picture it shows a happy girl but in the background spilt pills and graves. The girl being happy over the pills and graves shows that underneath the happiness she is suffering with addiction which will lead to death.

Something has happened

For my 'something has happened' assignment I was in Baltimore, MD and went to the Lexington Market. In this market i really felt a sense of community. All of these people come week after week and listen to a jazz band play for hours. Hundreds of all different ages come and gather together. The weak and the strong come together to be apart of something great.

Annie Oakley

I believe that Annie Leibovitz included Annie Oakley in her exhibit because Annie Oakley was very into teaching women how to be strong and be proud to do things. She gave shooting lessons to women, she liked to say, “anything a man can do a woman can practically as well". She liked to sponsor the idea that woman should have the strange to do things they want to and not be afraid to try new things. I think that Leibovitz included her into her exhibition to show the idea that woman should have strength and Annie Oakley portrayed this well.

The trip to the gallery was very useful and vital because it allowed me and my classmates to see all different types of work of professional pictures/portraits. I got to think of other ideas to use myself in the future as I am taking pictures. Being exposed to other types of art expands people’s ideas of what else is out there and to take advantage of.

Scholastics

Through my images I expressed the places I’ve seen and visited through unique window and doorway passages. These images express moments in time taken to remember the importance of everywhere I have been so fortunate to visit. Every time I see a window, a memory of my past is reflected in it. The windows I pass I always am looking forward to the future memories. Each window I pass gives me hope for the future and the memories it will bring.
